World’s Fastest Growing Wholesale Travel Provider Hires New VP of Cruise Development to Roll Out New Viking River Cruises Inventory and XML Platform.
Orlando, FL – September 9, 2015 – Tourico Holidays, a global leader in wholesale travel brokerage, today announced that it has introduced host-to-host XML connectivity between its cruise line partners and its travel distribution clients. Tourico has also partnered with Viking Cruises to broker more than 2,000 cruises to the company’s 3,500 clients worldwide.
“The cruise industry is one of our fastest growing business segments, so we’ve stepped up our game to meet the demand,” said Steve Skidgel, Executive Vice President of Global Product Development for Tourico Holidays. “We’ve optimized our technology to ensure that booking a cruise using the Tourico platform is quick and convenient – and most importantly, highly accurate. And we’ve strengthened our inventory by partnering with the wildly popular and rapidly growing cruise supplier, Viking Cruises, opening its inventory to our travel distribution clients – and giving them even more options at unbeatable price points.”
Tourico Holidays’ cruise business now includes 15 cruise lines and more than 10,000 different cruise departures throughout the world – including in the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Egypt, Asia, Australia, and South America. The entire inventory is now available to North American clients through Tourico’s host-to-host XML connectivity. By combining its XML platform and its industry-best 97% sync rate, Tourico clients now have real-time availability of products and pricing. As a result, clients that are selling hotels through XML can now also find cruises on the same point of reconciliation, making it even easier to bundle the two products, and allowing clients to diversify their product offering. Cruise lines will have the advantage of gaining brand awareness and incremental revenue through Tourico’s global distribution.
As a result of its partnership with Viking, Tourico’s clients will now have access to the best offers available on over 2,000 destination-centric cruises designed for experienced travelers with interests in geography, history, culture and exploration. Tourico will expand Viking’s distribution footprint by offering the new product to its 4,900 distribution clients worldwide.
To support the rapid growth of Tourico’s cruise business, the company has appointed Lori Sheller as the new Vice President of Cruise Development. Sheller has 14 years of cruise industry experience with proven success at identifying growth opportunities and initiating strong business alliances. Prior to her hire at Tourico, she was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Online Vacation Center, one of the largest cruise retailers in the U.S.
“I see incredible growth potential for Tourico Holidays’ cruise business,” said Sheller. “Signing Viking and providing XML connectivity to our partners is just the beginning – and I’m excited to be a part of a team that is constantly innovating on behalf of its customers.”
Tourico Holidays partners with airberlin holidays.
Orlando/Florida, September – Global travel wholesaler Tourico Holidays has partnered with airberlin holidays, the tour operator of one of Europe’s leading airlines, airberlin. The wholesaler’s inventory covers the globe, hosting competitive prices in destinations such as New York, Miami, and Chicago as well as the European hotspots across Spain, Italy, and Germany. Tourico’s strength with 3 to 5-star hotel inventory attracted airberlin holidays, who shares consumer demand for thriving leisure destinations. Tourico Holidays is known for its competitive prices for hotel inventory in large cities that are top destinations for airberlin holidays.
For airberlin holidays, a sub-company of Germany’s second largest airline, the quality of product became a crucial factor in the decision to partner with Tourico Holidays. As a prerequisite, all the hotels Tourico provides to airberlin holidays have a 3 star rating and above, as well as a minimum rating of 70% on the largest German-language travel opinion portal www.holidaycheck.com. airberlin holidays plans to use this new partnership to expand its range of offers in key American and European cities, and plans to increase their share in the luxury segment by packaging more 4 and 5-star inventory. airberlin holidays will be connected to Tourico via an XML interface, which provides the airline access to the travel wholesaler’s most up-to-date inventory, including the newest ExclusiveDeals.
Tourico’s strength in popular U.S. destinations such as Chicago and New York City was also noticed by airberlin holidays. This strength had already been demonstrated through the success of multiple “offline” promotions through the collaborative efforts of the airline and Tourism’s Berlin-based Sales Manager Oliver Stahlberg. The success of these promotions influenced airberlin holidays’ decision to partner with Tourico Holidays, after demonstrating personal reliability and aggressive pricing in compressed destinations.
After a partnership agreement had been reached, airberlin holidays launched the “airberlin holidays Summer City Sale” in April 2015, featuring hand-selected inventory from the Tourico Holidays contracting team. This included much of Tourico’s hallmark ExclusiveDeal inventory, such as the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile—a hotel where Tourico is the exclusive wholesale provider—as well as deals in Italy, Spain, Hungary, Finland, France, and the Czech Republic.
