Tourico Holidays Increases Asian Hotel Inventory by 20 Percent in 2016
Asia hotel industry shows great growth as hotel inventory.

The Asia hotel industry continues to show great growth as hotel inventory has increased a total of 20 percent in 2016. During the last five years, Tourico has more than doubled its local partnerships, surpassing a number of 5,000 hotels in the region.

“Asia is a region demonstrating incredible travel growth, punctuated recently by a very strong first half to 2016, so our primary goal now is to double our hotel inventory again in the next five years,” said Steve Skidgel, Executive Vice President of Global Product Development for Tourico Holidays. “In addition to bolstering our hotel partnerships, we’ve also shifted focus to building out our pre-purchased hotel inventory in the market, growing our ancillary inventory, and continuing to add offices and personnel on the ground.”

Tourico has reported seeing an increase of over 100 percent in Asia in 2016, with regards to its ExclusiveDeals, pre-purchased hotel rooms. Before the end of this year, Tourico is looking to pre-purchase around $15 million dollars in ExclusiveDeals in Asia, targeting main cities in China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia.

Tourico Holidays bullish about Spain’s booming tourism biz
with international traveling.

The Spain market has been booming tourism with international traveling. 68 million international travelers entered country in 2015 and 14 million foreign visitors entered in July alone, that’s a 6.6% increase year over year.

Tourico has seen a 34% jump in overall hotel reservations by Spaniards through August. This growth has been particularly driven by travel going to North America, hotel bookings by Spanish travelers have reached a 73 year over year so far this year.

“Spain is literally fully booked, and it’s been fully booked for months,” said Barcelona-based Nadia Younes, Tourico’s regional sales director for Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

In response to Spain’s booming economy, Tourico decided to partner with Globalia, known as one of the largest travel agencies in Spain.

“Spain as a source market has taken longer in recovering from the financial crisis that [the country] went through,” Younes said, adding that she can see the growth in Tourico’s daily reservations. “I think the big results are yet to come.”

Additionally, Tourico has decided to establish an expanded team in Spain with 20 employees in Barcelona looking after the destination.
