Strong demand leads to the expansion of product offers and the creation of new jobs

ORLANDO, FL, July 9, 2013 – Global travel wholesaler, Tourico Holidays announces an increase of 43% in bookings for the first two quarters of 2013 and 61% increase to Europe as a destination.

This trend towards growth follows a solid fiscal year 2012 for the company, which closed 20% over 2011 and 25% up for European destinations. The biggest success stories in 2013 are:

  • Berlin up 62%
  • Paris up 48%
  • London up 57%
  • and Madrid up 62%

This rapid growth occurs in a market that, according to the World Tourism Organization UNWTO, will grow by 2-3% and tourism globally by 3-4%.

Dubai is also a rapidly growing market boasting a large increase in bookings.

Tourico Holidays has experienced an 86% increase in searches for the destination since the beginning of the year and booking increase of 58% in comparison to the 2012 fiscal year.

Tourico Holidays is one of the leading travel providers in Europe; in 2012, 63% of all bookings within EU destinations came from European guests. This Europe-to-Europe business increased by 29% compared to 2011.

Due to this strong growth, the travel wholesaler is concentrating on expanding its product offerings.

Tourico Holidays currently has 6,700 direct hotel contracts and aims to increase this number to 9,500 by the end of 2013, an increase of 42%. The demand is there; therefore, the travel wholesaler is on the lookout for partners able to offer a contingent of 10+ rooms, primarily in destinations like London, Paris, the Balkans, and North Africa.

Most recently, Caron was the Co-Founder and Vice President of Business Development for online vacation-rental business, Packlate.com, where he oversaw the technology development as well as all business development and supplier relationships. ORLANDO – April 18, 2013 Tourico Holidays, an innovative leader in travel wholesale, today made three strategic additions to its organization by announcing the appointment of Ivar Hottentot as Senior Product Manager for Las Vegas, Shenelle Shaam as Senior Product Manager for the San Francisco – Bay Area, and Olivia Crossey as the Senior Product Manager for the Boston, Washington DC, and Chicago. All of the Senior Product Managers will be responsible for growing and refining Tourico Holidays™ unique selection of travel offerings in each of these key tourist destinations.

We recognize that having operations and distribution knowledge from a suppliers perspective is a critical tool to execute mutually beneficial agreements, and all three individuals have extensive backgrounds with Independent properties and regional chain positions, said Dermot Quigley, EVP of Global Product Development for Tourico Holidays. Hottentot was most recently a Senior Market Manager at Gullivers Travel Associates covering the U.S. west coast. Prior to GTA, he spent more than five years at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino as the Senior Manager International Sales and Marketing. Hottentot also has experience outside of hotels, working as the Director of International Sales for Scenic Airlines in Las Vegas.

Shaam joins Tourico Holidays from Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants in San Francisco where she oversaw the International market segment. Earlier in her career, she worked many years with the wholesale FIT, MICE and Tour Travel Group segments in the Maldives with Hilton, the Rania Experience, and Anantara Resorts.

Crossey has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, both in Dublin, Ireland and Boston. Most recently, she served as Leisure Account Director for Starwood Hotels of Boston. Earlier in her career, she spent six years with the Irish owned Doyle Collection Hotel Group between Dublin and Boston.
