  • Following the customary regulatory process, GTA officially joins Hotelbeds Group.

Palma, October 4, 2017 – Hotelbeds Group, a global bedbank and business-to-business provider of services to the travel industry, has confirmed that – following the closure of the customary regulatory and legal procedures – GTA has officially joined the Group.*

A strategic integration plan is now underway to integrate both GTA and Tourico Holidays – which joined the Group in June – into Hotelbeds Group in a phased approach.

In the future, both hotel and ancillary partners, as well as travel intermediary clients, of all three companies will have access to an integrated and enhanced range of services, products and technology solutions drawn from the combination of all three.

To reflect the new combined organisation and to drive forward the integration across all functions, the new leadership team of the Group was today confirmed to employees globally and published on Hotelbeds Group´s website.

Joan Vilà remains Executive Chairman of Hotelbeds Group, with Carlos Muñoz continuing in his role as Managing Director Bedbank with the responsibility to manage the integration of the three businesses. Current Finance Director, Andrés Garcia takes on the Finance responsibility for the enlarged Group. Additionally various existing GTA, Tourico Holidays and Hotelbeds Group senior executives are take leading roles across the enlarged organisation.

This morning the Group also confirmed that leading travel-technology executive José Antonio Tazón has been appointed Senior Non-Executive Director of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Advisory Committee, reflecting the Group´s status as both an independent and significantly larger company.

Tourico Holidays has announced a new partnership with TUI Germany. This new distribution partnership will grant TUI Germany access to Tourico’s worldwide hotel inventory via XML connectivity.

“TUI has one of the most expansive distribution networks in the travel industry,” said Oliver Stahlberg, the Regional Director of Sales in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland for Tourico Holidays. “This new partnership will enable TUI to offer their loyal customers new hotel options in thousands of cities worldwide. Meanwhile, Tourico’s contracted hotel clients will have another marquee distributor working to sell their product globally and increase exposure.”

With over 80,000 hotels contracted on Tourico’s bedbank inventory, in addition to its “ExclusiveDeals,” pre-purchased hotel room blocks, the company guarantees clients with discounted rates.

As of June 8th, 2017, travel wholesalers, Hotelbeds Group and Tourico Holidays, have finalized the deal that brings Tourico Holidays under the umbrella of Hotelbeds Group. While the integration process is fully completed, both businesses will continue to operate as normal. Integration plans are already under development to combine the two in different stages.

In the go forward, both businesses will have access to clients and partners of each, same applies to services and technology solutions as we approach different stages of the integration process.

Uri Argov, former CEO and founder of Tourico Holidays has decided to retire, but will remain a shareholder of the combined company. In his place, Asi Ginio, former COO of Tourico Holidays, will step in as Tourico Holidays new CEO, until both companies reach full integration.

Following today’s announcement, GTA will soon be joining Hotelbeds Group. This new deal will be subject to its own regulatory approval process and integration timeline; for the time being, GTA will remain working independently from Hotelbeds Group.

An additional 6.5% increase during the first 18 weeks of this year.

Tourico Holidays today revealed encouraging numbers for the U.S. hotel industry. The travel wholesaler has seen an increase of 8 percent in overall hotel bookings for 2016, and an additional 6.5% increase during the first 18 weeks of this year (2017).

The company has noted that regardless of previously perceived issues, such as travel bans and tighter immigration policies, the overall hotel traffic continues to grow. “Especially from key source markets like China, Canada, Brazil, and the UAE,” said Matias Elisavetsky, Executive Vice President of Global Product Development for Tourico Holidays.

Additionally, in recent years Tourico Holidays has bolstered its U.S hotel inventory, specifically in California by 10 percent in 2016 and by a total of 52 percent since 2013.

Tourico is predicting to double its business in China for this year.

“Regional political turmoil, such as the nuclear crisis in the Korean Peninsula, make the inbound China market more unpredictable this year,” said Hillary Wang, the Regional Director of Product Development in North Asia for Tourico Holidays. However, the Chinese market remains strong. As a matter of fact, Tourico is predicting to double its business in China for this year, due to increasing product demand.

Currently, Tourico has four regional offices across Asia, including Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong, with more than 55 local employees to support clients and suppliers.

This new service gives partners the option of importing Tourico’s inventory – with this, creating a readily available offline database of products and services.

The push service instantly sends individual updates to clients. This technology allows clients to sell last minute inventory and reducing the total number of failed bookings.

“Companies selling travel no longer have to pull data for current inventory. The process is more efficient and will lead to more successful transactions and better profits for our clients,” said Lev Koutamonov, the Head of API Integration of Tourico Holidays.

The new push service will also provide clients with pre-calculated prices, which will reflect currency changes, promotion discounts, and other business factors. Tourico Holidays bullish about Spain’s booming tourism biz

The Spain market has been booming tourism with international traveling. 68 million international travelers entered country in 2015 and 14 million foreign visitors entered in July alone, that’s a 6.6% increase year over year.

Tourico has seen a 34% jump in overall hotel reservations by Spaniards through August. This growth has been particularly driven by travel going to North America, hotel bookings by Spanish travelers have reached a 73 year over year so far this year.

“Spain is literally fully booked, and it’s been fully booked for months,” said Barcelona-based Nadia Younes, Tourico’s regional sales director for Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

In response to Spain’s booming economy, Tourico decided to partner with Globalia, known as one of the largest travel agencies in Spain.
